BPM - Traditional Solutions

Customized software development to automate business and operational aspects of one's business has always been an area where Gausa has done lot of work since its inception. We have done such applications for various types of industries and various sizes of organizations. Primarily these solutions were developed using traditional methods of software development - like CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering), RAD (Rapid Application Development) and OOAD (Object Oriented Application Development). Being an ISO certified setup, we focus on the various aspects of Requirements Engineering and the basic principles of Software Development Life Cycle.

Primarily these solutions have been built on Client Server Architecture. Developmental platforms such as VB, VC, .NET, SQL Server, Oracle have been used in these solutions. CASE methodologies like UML, Flow Charting are given importance at the design stages of such solutions.

BPM - The Third Wave

The first wave of business-process management, outlined in Fredrick Taylor's theory of management in the 1920s, suggested that processes were implicit in work practices, tucked away in policy manuals. Process management was called "methods and procedures analysis."

The second wave, ushered in over the past decade, suggested that processes could be manually reengineered through a one-time activity. Changes were made, but essentially cast in - if not concrete, then in software, such as the feature-rich but rigid Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications. Even with document-centered workflow added to financial-management systems, for example, rarely gave business managers full control over the process life cycle.

The third wave of BPM will let companies and workers create new processes on the fly. Change is the primary design goal. Through agile business processes, value chains can be monitored and continuously improved. The third wave is not business-process reengineering, enterprise application integration, workflow management, or another packaged application-it's the synthesis and extension of all these technologies and techniques into a unified whole. This becomes a new foundation upon which to build an enterprise more in tune with the true nature of business processes and their management. The Business Process Management Initiative (www.bpmi.org) is a global consortium of many companies working towards making the 3rd wave of BPM a reality and a global standard.

Gausa is one of the many early adopters to this technology. Gausa has entered into a mutual understanding with a major player in 3rd wave of BPM (Intalio, Inc.) to provide an enterprise level Risk Management System to a major player in the Construction industry. We are also planning to get registered with BPMI to start contributing to this great opportunity.
